I have never tried a pupusa before, so I was curious to try one. A pupusa is very similar to an arepa but instead of the cake being sliced and stuffed, the meat is hidden inside. They are a Central American specialty made from corn masa patties that are hand-made and stuffed with various meats, cheeses and vegetables.

These were filled with beef and accompanied with sweet plantains, tamales, pickled onions and cabbage, jalapenos, and their own special sauce. I wasn’t really enthused about the tamale, as it had seemed a little undercooked. However, the sweet plantains were done perfectly and the pupusa with the pickled onions and the sauce was outstanding.
