One of our last stops in San Francisco was the Ferry building. The San Francisco Ferry building is a terminal for ferries that travel across the San Francisco Bay and a shopping center located on the Embarcadero section of the city. The market is very interesting place with plenty of shops geared toward high end foods, and is home to the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market that is a California certified farmers market operated by the nonprofit Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA). The market is widely acclaimed for both the quality and diversity of its fresh farm products, and artisan prepared foods. It is renowned throughout the country as one of the top farmers market to visit. On any day especially Saturdays, some of San Francisco’s best known chefs and farmers can be seen at the market. The market also provides a forum for people to learn about food and agriculture. They estimate that each week nearly 25,000 shoppers visit the farmers market. The market was super cool , with the offerings of fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, meats, and eggs from small regional farmers and ranchers , most of whom are certified organic. The market also offers a wealth of other products, including regional artisan specialties such as breads, cheeses, and jams. You can also find an array of artisan street foods, such as wood-fired pizzas, grilled meats, sandwiches, and tacos. The market also includes many local fine dining restaurants serving a variety of hot delicious meals. With all of the shops, food and dining, coupled with the beautiful San Francisco Bay as a backdrop for scenery, the San Francisco Ferry Building was a gem of a visit.
